主要是取代塔內散堆填料，解決阻力大、比表面積小，傳質效能差、易破碎等突出問題。它規定了氣液流路．改善了淘流、壁流和潤濕性能．降低了阻力，同時提供更多的氣液接觸面積從而提高了傳質，傳熱效果。

比表面積大、孔隙率高、重量輕，填料效率高；氣相通路傾角小，有規則的氣相通路，壓力損失小，填料壓降低；徑向擴散良好汽液接觸充分。

一般用于同位素分離或需要大量理論板數的難分離物系的精密分餾，也可用于高度愛到嚴格限制或要求達到高純度產品的場合。

三、適用范圍（Scope of application）
可廣泛用于煤氣洗滌塔．焦化洗滌，洗苯、洗氨培、化肥熱氣飽和、脫硫酸、硫酸干燥、吸收塔等。
