來自于奧地利的貝加萊（B&R）工業自動化公司便是敏銳地捕捉到這一技術需求的變化，早在1994年便在*個推出了基于定性實時多任務操作系統(RealTimemulti-taskingOperat*tem)的可編程計算機控制器（PCC—ProgrammableComputerController），時至今日，仍然代表了這一創新技術的發展趨勢，成為新一代自控工程師的新寵。我們知道，常規的PLC大多依賴于單任務的時鐘掃描或監控程序，來處理程序本身的邏輯運算指令以及外部的I/O通道的狀態采集與刷新，整個應用程序采用一個循環周期，但事實上在一個控制系統中，雖然往往有一些數據量是實時性要求很高的，但也有很多大慣性的模擬量是沒有太高實時要求的，如果采用同樣的刷新速度其實是對資源的浪費，而且循環順序掃描的運行機制也直接導致了系統的控制速度嚴重依賴于應用程序的大小，應用程序一旦復雜龐大，控制速度就必然降低。這無疑是與I/O通道高實時性控制的要求相違背的。
