上面所說的廢氣處理技術處理效率都是不同的，對處理效率造成影響的因素也是不一樣的。在工業廢氣處理效率的研究過程中，使用的都是數據包絡分析的方法，通常也被稱作DEA法。這種方式在我國各種類型的生產單位中廣泛使用。這種方式的基本思想就是把多種決策單元的投入以及相關的數據進行分析，然后對決策的單元效率進行判斷。DEA方法有以下幾種優勢，在進行研究之前不用對前沿生產函數形式進行確定；在生產過程中不需要對指標權重進行確定；投入和生產的指標不會對結果造成影響。DEA法其中又包括CCR模式和BBC模式，這兩種都是定量不變，對某個單元的技術效率進行研究。
